Art Direction + Web Design for BAFRU

Bananen + Frucht AG has been trading fruit since 1939. Based at Zurich’s Engrosmarkt, Bafru sources fruit from around the world, from pineapples and mangos to bananas from Ecuador, which are ripened in the company’s own banana ripening facility. Tradition, experience and a sense of adventure have shaped the family business for more than 85 years.

Studio Nomad developed a new communication concept and website for Bafru. The visual system takes its cue from the crates and boxes used to transport and handle fruit: content is organised in modular blocks that can be stacked, combined and rearranged. This principle became the basis for both the communication and the structure of the website.

Together with photographer Jonas Weibel, we developed a photographic language around the people, products and everyday life at Bafru. The resulting image library is used throughout the website and gives the team a consistent set of visual material for their ongoing communication.
